Researcher (100%) in landscape ecology

 at the Institute for Environmental Sciences at the Campus Landau/Pfalz, Germany. The appointment is for 4 years and subject to the German law on fixed-term contracts in science (WissZeitVG). Salary will be according to 100% of the German public service salary scale TV-L 13.

Topic:

The Working Group Quantitative Landscape Ecology investigates the effects of anthropogenic stressors (for example, toxicants, climate change) on river ecosystems, particularly invertebrates, microorganisms and ecosystem processes. The holder of the position should establish an independent research program in the area of statistical and spatial analysis/prediction of the effects of stressors on ecological communities or ecosystems, preferably with connections to the working group. We expect from you a high motivation to publish in high-impact journals and active contribution to research, acquisition of external funding, supervision of Phd students and teaching of GIS (6 SWS). Fostering your academic qualification is part of the professional duties and you will typically acquire the necessary qualifications for a Habilitation (eligibility for a professorship position) through the intended teaching and research activities. Quantitative Landscape Ecology and in close collaboration with other research groups of the institute, the successful candidate will have access to modern equipment and work in a young and interdisciplinary team of researchers.

Requirements:

University degree and a PhD on a topic with links to statistical or GIS/spatial analysis. You have an excellent research performance, as evidenced by publications. We expect expertise in multiple of the following areas: GIS, statistics, freshwater ecology, community ecology, ecological theory, ecotoxicology or stress ecology. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and in the use of free software (for example, R, PostGIS, QGIS, GRASS GIS) is desired. If you have questions, please contact Prof. Dr. Ralf Schäfer (schaefer-ralf@uni-landau.de ). It is the policy of the University Koblenz-Landau to increase the percentage of female employees.
