BRITISH ECOLOGICAL SOCIETY: Aquatic Ecology SIG

Posted by:

We are rebooting the British Ecological Society Aquatic Ecology SIG this year, with a new set of meetings and workshops, starting with an initial gathering at the joint BES – INTECOL 2013 meeting (18-23 August in London) to discuss ideas for events and special sessions at the next BES Annual Conference.

The BES AE group aims to bring together aquatic-minded individuals from all sectors to exchange skills, knowledge and ideas. As part of this aim we want to support early career marine and freshwater ecologists through a range of events such as skills workshops and special sessions.

The new team is led by Guy Woodward and Melanie Fletcher, along with Nessa O’Connor, Ronni Edmonds-Brown, Mark Ledger and Dom Andradi-Brown (PhD student representative).

To keep up –to-date with what’s happening sign up to the BES Aquatic Ecology mailing list: www.britishecologicalsociety.org/aquatic and follow the new twitter account: @BES_AquaEco

For anyone coming to INTECOL, we will be holding an informal meeting on Monday 19 August, at 7pm in London Suite 2. The main points we will discuss relate to the group’s future activities, where we will be looking for suggestions for themes for potential symposia, workshops and follow-up meetings, plus any other activities that you feel we should engage in – we look forward to hearing from you!

Following this meeting we will announce further details on the group’s plans via the BES Aquatic Ecology group mailing list and twitter.

If you cannot make it to INTECOL please email us with any comments or suggestions in advance to guy.woodward@imperial.ac.uk and we will collate and address them in the meeting.
